ENERGY - HOW DO YOU SUSTAIN YOURS?⠀ ⠀ Now that i am back at work how I eat on those days has changed. I usually have a decent lunch in the middle of the day but when I am working I find that eating this way slows me down.⠀ ⠀ I need to have as much energy for my last client as I did for my first. I find that grazing across the day works for me in terms of sustaining my energy. Also ensuring a good mix of carbohydrates, protein and fats keeps me energised all day long.⠀ ⠀ This is what lunch looks like to me today and it will be spread into 3-4 small grazing sessions. Pea protein veggie packed smoothie, some fruit and nuts. Did I mention water? ARTHUR IS FINALLY WALKING!!! ⠀ ⠀ Tenuous link to the benefits of barefoot walking below :-) ..............⠀ ⠀ Arthur is almost 18 months and was still not walking. One step here, a couple of steps there but he just didn't seem to 'run' with it like they usually do when they take the first steps.⠀ ⠀ Then out of the blue I stood him up on the grass on Friday and off he sauntered a good 20 meters to the end of the garden, and again, and again, and again. Then we went inside and on the smooth floor - back to falling over after a step or two.⠀ ⠀ The difference? BAREFOOT STIMULI! How had I not thought of this sooner. Yes he is barefoot indoors but the rough, tickley, grassy stimulus provided more information to his fresh little nervous system to stabilise and strut his stuff down the garden.⠀ ⠀ Our feet are AMAZING! The skin on the feet are LOADED with receptors that send information to our nervous system that help our bodies:⠀ ⠀- Balance better⠀ - create stability and strength⠀ - fire up the core and pelvic floor⠀ - reduce foot and heel pain⠀ - and even relax :-) who doesn't love a foot rub??⠀ ⠀ So let Arthur's grass walking miracle be a lesson to us all to fling out the flip flop and throw off the trainer this sunny bank holiday.
